Mods, by what they do

Mods are Claude Code's newest extension point (v2.1.287+): plugins with code that runs inside Claude Code, so they can draw panes and bands, restyle the interface and step into tool calls.

cache-live-control

1

rezzminator/cache-live-control

Change the prompt-cache TTL (5m, 1h or automatic) of one Claude Code chat with /cache: instantly, with no model turn, for the main chat, its sub-agents or both.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cache-meter

1

satyamk4517/claude-mods

Status line with prompt-cache hit rate, context size and TTL countdown; toasts and prices every cache rebuild and names what coincided with it; /cache-meter summary.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cache-tax

1

Orfila-antoine/claude-mods

Keeps the one-hour prompt cache warm during breaks and stops a cold send once with its estimated rewrite cost; its status line sits in the modkit band. Adapted from cache-tax by Karan Bansal (MIT).

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cache-timer

1

EricJamie/claude-code-mods

A countdown to when the conversation's prompt cache expires, in the prompt footer before the model name

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cache-timer

1

MarekBartczak/claude-cache-timer

Live countdown above the prompt until your session's prompt cache expires, with an optional keep-alive that keeps it warm while you're away

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cache-timer

1

Sanexxxx777/claude-cache-timer

A countdown in the prompt footer: under the hint line on the terminal, left of the model picker on the desktop: time left on the prompt cache and how much of the last request it served, or, when the cache was written again while it should have been warm, why (a model switch, an effort change); after a model switch, before anything is sent, what the other model will write. In Ghostty a big cache also raises a macOS notification before it expires and on a rebuild nobody asked for. Olive while there is plenty, warmer at 10, 5 and 2 minutes left (scaled down for a 5-minute cache). The lifetime follows Claude Code's own rules: 1 hour on a subscription, 5 minutes on an API key or usage credits.

Context & usage mods

calm-aside

1

kulovema2012/calm-mode

Calm Aside: a read-only side chat. /aside opens a pane where you ask about the session so far; a tool-less fork of the session answers, and nothing goes back into the main chat.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

calm-enhance

1

kulovema2012/calm-mode

Calm Enhance: an Enhance button above the prompt that turns a short, vague draft into a precise prompt from the recent conversation ("do 1 and 2" becomes the actual options). Press again to revert. Adapted from cc-prompt-enhance-mod by Yigit Budak (MIT).

Workflow mods/plugin install

capsule-panel

1

jsh135790/claude-code-capsule-panel

Live usage dashboard: context, cache, rate limits, cost and activity in a capsule-style pane.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cc-buddy

1

vmallela0/cc-buddy

Brings back /buddy: the small creature that watched you code, above the prompt again. Restores the companion in ~/.claude.json exactly (same species, rarity, hat and stats), hatches an egg for new accounts, levels up from commits and passing tests, unlocks a 49-buddy roster as you ship, reacts to Claude's work for free, answers in a Haiku-written line when you say its name, and shows in a pane on desktop and mobile. Needs CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1.

Spinner, theme & fun mods/plugin install

cc-contextbar

1

evggzzz/cc-contextbar

Battery-style context bar for Claude Code, drawn as a live band above the prompt: real context %, session cost, and quota windows that follow the surface — z.ai quota in the terminal, Claude-plan rate limits in the desktop Code tab. Also still ships the classic statusline script.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cc-dino

1

giovaborgogno/cc-dino

The T-rex from the browser's offline page, above the Claude Code prompt: jump cacti and duck birds while Claude works. Needs function hooks (early access) and an interactive terminal.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

cc-fm-mod

1

code-akram/cc-fm-mod

claude.fm in your prompt: a live spectrum under the composer and /fm to control the cc-fm player, local or over SSH

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

cc-jev-pruner

1

masseater/cc-jev-teacher

Keeps Claude Code's context small with a decision model on OpenRouter: compacts without a summary by dropping tool calls the task no longer needs, trims long Bash output to the parts that matter, and finds the code behind a behavior with Jevgrep

Context & usage mods/plugin install

cc-mod-ferro

1

Vatroslav/cc-mod-ferro

Ferro (a Norwich Terrier) runs across a pixel-art meadow in a band above the prompt while Claude works on a long turn; now and then she stops to sit, sniff, drink or poop, she runs past things on the meadow, and after 5 minutes she falls asleep

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

cc-mod-waitwhat

1

GGGODLIN/cc-mod-waitwhat

Buttons above the prompt: retell recent turns in plain words, or open what a background check flagged that you might miss. Results go to Claude Code's own pane; nothing enters the transcript or the model's context.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

cc-pokedex

1

deonmenezes/claude-mods-pokedex

Catch wild creatures above the Claude Code prompt: where your prompt leads (water, grass, fire, bugs, plans, builds) decides what appears. Pick a partner that draws under the logo, beside the spinner and above the prompt, and levels up and evolves as Claude works. Needs function hooks (early access) and an interactive terminal.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

cc-traj-seg

1

lucastononro/cc-traj-seg

Trajectory segmentation for long Claude Code sessions: every N steps a model of your choice (haiku by default) reads the previous segments and the last 40 steps and either adds a segment of what Claude is doing now and the path it is on, amends the current one, or stays quiet. Cards in a pane on the right, each with an X. Needs Claude Code 2.1.289 or later.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

ccburn

1

JuanjoFuchs/ccburn-mod

ccburn's burn-up chart for your Claude Code session and weekly limits, in a pane inside Claude Code.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

ccsr

1

jaencarrodine/ccsr-mod

Claude Code Ship Race: ranked 1v1s on the work you're already doing. Your own Claude scores every commit; most points at the bell wins. Plus the Grind, a board that counts every commit. Needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later (2.1.286 in the desktop app).

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

change-card

1

WeaponizedLego/claude-code-mods

A short card that explains what an agent changed on this branch: a headline, a few one-line changes, where to look first and what was not checked

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

changes

1

candygoogy/notary

See what Claude changed, turn by turn. Keep it or send it back. A per-turn timeline with each file's diff and keep/revert.

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

changes

1

sruthik27/claude-foundry

/changes: the session's edits grouped by concept, then files, then the exact code; point at lines and ask Claude about them or have it change them

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

chiikawa

1

techkwon/chiikawa

Chiikawa mode: Hachiware conducts, and the friends from Chiikawa appear as text drawings to take on tasks and talk them over (Claude subagents + Orca workers). In English, Korean and Japanese.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

chottag

1

HaiNNT/c-hottag

Drive chottag (c-hottag) from Claude Code: switch the serving account, set the remote account, log accounts in, check limits and the install. On Claude Code 2.1.287+ a mod adds a status card, notices, /ct commands and a /login guard.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

ciel-mode

1

ruihe774/cc-ciel-mode

ciel-mode (Call-in-CEL mode) for Claude Code: the model writes a small sandboxed CEL program that calls MCP and read-only tools, filters and joins their results, and returns only what it needs, so large tool outputs never fill the context. Every call still goes through the permission checks.

Workflow mods

cinemetric

1

jeremehancock/cinemetric

Claude skills for your Plex server. Read-only reports on your media and server, plus mods for Claude Code: a read-only guard, a library status line and a Now Playing panel.

Guard & safety mods/plugin install

classify-hint

1

corrupt952/dotfiles

Classifies the user's prompt with Haiku against a few yes/no questions in one call and attaches a rough, non-binding hint for the main agent

1

katzboaz/ClaudeAmp

A Winamp-style player for Claude Code: live spectrum visualizer, scrolling marquee, playlist of tool calls and transport controls.

Pane & dashboard mods

claudebar-mod

1

visiblesoft-es/claude-mods

claudebar as a mod: an interactive band with git, model, effort, context, rate limits, cache, tools and agents, plus detail panes, alerts and history

Context & usage mods/plugin install

claudepad

1

nwilsson/claudepad

A notepad pane for Claude Code: notes per repo, per branch or global, that Claude can read, add to and tick off. Tags, due dates, search, pinned context, and NOTES.md or git-folder sync.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

claudify

Context & usage mods/plugin install

clawd

1

yushiran/cc-clawd

Spinner, theme & fun mods/plugin install

1

tomada1114/clawd-band

About Claude Code mods

What is a Claude Code mod?

Since version 2.1.287, a mod is a Claude Code plugin with JavaScript or TypeScript handlers that run inside Claude Code. Unlike a settings hook or a status line script, a mod can draw panes beside the transcript and bands above the prompt, add buttons and toasts, restyle the spinner and tool rows, and hold, rewrite or answer a tool call. Mods work in the CLI, the Code tab of the desktop app and the VS Code extension.

How do I install a Claude Code mod?

A mod installs like any plugin. Inside Claude Code, add its marketplace with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo, then run /plugin install name@marketplace. To try one without installing it, clone the repo and start Claude Code with --plugin-dir pointing at the mod folder. Every mod page here has the exact commands.

What else is in this directory?

Every other way people customise Claude Code: status line scripts, settings hooks, custom slash commands, output styles, themes, plugin marketplaces and workflow kits, plus the apps people run it with, such as GUIs and mobile clients, usage and cost trackers, session browsers, model routers, multi-agent and worktree runners and editor integrations. Skills and MCP servers have their own directories.

What does a mod's reach mean?

Reach is the widest thing a mod's code asks Claude Code to do, from a static scan of its source: L0 only draws and remembers, L1 reads files or settings, L2 writes files, runs processes or drives Claude, and L3 reaches the network. It is a footprint, not a verdict: a pull request tracker has to run git. A mod runs with your permissions, so read its code before you install it.

How is popularity measured?

By the GitHub stars of each repo, with forks, curated awesome lists and listing in Anthropic's plugin directory as smaller signals. When one repo holds many mods they share its stars, so only its first few rank high. The data refreshes every day.

Are Claude Code mods safe?

Mods, hooks, status lines and most tools run on your machine with your permissions, so treat them like any code from the internet: check a mod's reach, read the code before installing, prefer well-starred and recently updated repos, and check the license. Run claude plugin validate on a clone to list what a mod hooks and calls without running it, and start Claude Code with --safe-mode to turn every customization off for a session.
