How Claude Code mods work
- A mod is a plugin with a JavaScript or TypeScript module that runs inside Claude Code (version 2.1.287 or later). It can draw panes beside the transcript, a band above the prompt, buttons and toasts, restyle the spinner and tool rows, and watch or rewrite tool calls and prompts.
- It installs like any plugin: add its marketplace with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo, then /plugin install name@marketplace.
- Check what a mod can reach before installing: it runs with your permissions. Reach goes from drawing only, to reading files, to writing files or running processes, to the network. Run claude plugin validate on a clone to list its hooks and calls without running it.
- Turn one off from the Installed tab in /plugin, or start Claude Code with --safe-mode to skip every customization for a session.

More context & usage mods
draft
HarzerHeribert/claude-modpack
Writing to a length in one draft and cuts, not rewrites. When your prompt sets a word limit, it carries your setting to plan each part's share and land the length in one draft, or one more write; each write of a document then shows its words as wc -w counts them, and when it is well over, each section's target. Silent without a limit. Nothing leaves your machine.
limit-bars
LegendSilvia/claude-code-mods
Four animated braille rings under the prompt: context, session, weekly and Fable limits, plus model and folder
desktop-statusline
williamchen0606/claude-mods
A status line for the Claude desktop app: 5-hour and weekly limits with progress bars, context, cost, and how long the 5-hour limit will last. Lay out its items over several lines with /desktop-statusline.
limits-meter
stylusnexus/claude-mods
Status line shows 5-hour and weekly usage plus running subagents; toasts at 90% and 95% of a window.
crew
harshitmywork17/claude-mods
Agents side pane: every subagent as a little pixel crew member with its model, effort, context, tokens, cost and time; running, completed and planned tasks with their dependencies. /crew
openai-balance
thorstenalpers/claude-code-mods
Your OpenAI API credit above the prompt: an estimated balance with a gauge, today's spend, where the money mostly went, and the last call. /openai-balance shows the breakdown.
