# CV Review

A CV is a sales document. The recruiter has 30 to 60 seconds on first pass. The CV must answer immediately:
- **Who am I?**
- **What do I do?**
- **Why am I a strong candidate for this role?**

The job is not to make the CV look nice. The job is to make the recruiter want to call this person.

## Why the recruiter only has 30-60 seconds

A typical open role at a mid- or large-size company gets dozens, hundreds, or sometimes thousands of applications. The recruiter's job is to filter that volume down to a shortlist quickly. They don't have time to figure out where an unfocused candidate would fit; if a CV doesn't make its direction clear at first glance, it gets set aside.

This has three practical consequences for feedback:
1. **The CV must do its own filtering work.** Title, summary, and the first job entry must answer in the first scan: "does this candidate broadly match the role?" Asking the recruiter to guess or infer is not realistic.
2. **The CV stage is itself a filtering round.** Recruiters use the CV to distinguish candidates who *create value and impact* from those who only describe responsibilities. Outcome-driven bullets are not just useful for the eventual interview, they are the deciding signal at the CV stage.
