Mods, by what they do

Mods are Claude Code's newest extension point (v2.1.287+): plugins with code that runs inside Claude Code, so they can draw panes and bands, restyle the interface and step into tool calls.

personas

2

SApplefeld/claude-kit

PIANO-esque cognitive layer: persona-keyed state, heartbeat liveness, controller with classify/actuate

Workflow mods/plugin install

pii-guard

2

GruperTal/claude-pin-message

Pin selected text or Claude's last response to a side pane that stays visible while the conversation scrolls on

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

pixel-crew

2

giovanniluci/pixel-crew

Routes every message to the cheapest model that can do it (Haiku, Sonnet or Opus) and shows three pixel workers, their cost and your savings in a side pane.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

pixel-office

2

itsArnavPrasad/pixel-office

Every Claude Code session as a pixel character in a shared office you can click and talk to

Pane & dashboard mods

plan-bar

2

homieyangg/claude-code-mods

Live progress bars above the prompt for multi-step work: one row per plan, with stages, percent, waiting and failed colors, and sounds

Notification & sound mods/plugin install

plushie

2

xyc/plushie

A plush Clawd above the prompt that reacts to what Claude is doing: works, celebrates, wobbles, blushes, naps, and can be patted and dragged.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

pr-inbox

2

2bo/pr-inbox

An inbox for review requests, your own PRs and your issues (assigned to you or created by you): AI summary and risk, an AI review that can approve, a reader for the description and diff, asking reviewers (teams that assign too), merging (gh stack too), CI and conflict fixes with Claude, and asking the Claude Code session that made or last worked on your PR for more

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

pr-overview

2

pthexton/claude-sidebar-mod

/pr-overview: the open PRs in this repo you're involved in, with new activity marked, CI and merge conflicts

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

pr-pulse

2

gerricchaplin/pr-pulse

PR Pulse: live status, merge readiness, checks, comments, review queue and change alerts for your GitHub PRs, with a collapsible band

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

pr-watch

2

cephalofoil/kitt

Above the prompt: the branch PR with its checks and failing log lines, uncommitted work with a commit-and-push key, and how far the branch is behind the default branch with a rebase key. The branch name sits in the hint line.

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

proctor

2

nalyk/nalyk-skills

Hook-enforced development discipline for Claude Code. Skills teach methodology; hooks enforce compliance mechanically (git gates, planning mode, step budgets, quiet mode, pre-flight checks, self-diagnosis, autonomy metrics); store + tracing survive compaction.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

prompt-drafts

2

vynnlee/mods

Keep prompts aside as drafts of the session. End a prompt with ;; to save it instead of sending it, then /drafts to put one back in the prompt box.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

prompt-rewriter

2

KunalKumarkkr01/prompt-rewriter

On demand via /rewrite: classifies a prompt into role + task personas, adds recent web context, and rewrites it with Haiku for review.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

pstack

2

PickleBoxer/pstack

poteto's rigorous engineering skills (poteto-mode, how/why, architect, verification), ported from Cursor and kept in sync with upstream

Pane & dashboard mods

pull-request-pane

2

meganemura/pull-request-pane

A pane beside the transcript with the GitHub pull requests and issues related to the current session: drag a title or description to leave a comment on it, add as many as you like, then Submit sends them all as one prompt. Watch each pull request's checks, review decision and mergeability update on a timer.

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

qrspi-pane

2

Allan-Nava/qrspi

A pane showing each QRSPI task in thoughts/: which phase it is in, what blocks it, and the /qrspi:next command to run

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

quarry

2

jackboykin/quarry

Adds Exa's results to WebSearch, and saves each WebFetch page to disk with the lines that answer the prompt

Workflow mods/plugin install

rate-limit-guard

2

sciccolella/claude-ratelimit-mod

At 90% of the 5-hour limit, tells the orchestrator and every subagent to checkpoint and stop at a safe point, then resumes them after the window resets.

Guard & safety mods/plugin install

recall

2

joeldg/claude-mods

Makes past sessions recallable: indexes Claude Code and Codex transcripts, subagent runs, memory files, standing orders and second-opinion reviews into a local SQLite index (kept after Claude Code deletes old transcripts), gives Claude search, expand, recap and list tools, and adds /recall (search, last session, timeline, decisions, commands, files, PRs, ask), /remember, a pick-up-where-you-left-off band, a related-work band, and a per-session ledger (goal, open tasks, questions answered, files touched, PRs and commits) that comes back after a compaction and /recall ledger prints. Nothing calls a model except /recall ask: one call to the ask model per question, billed to your usage.

Memory & instructions mods

redact

2

karanb192/claude-code-redact

Redacts secrets and PII from every row Claude Code stores, before the model reads it and before the transcript keeps it. Reach L0: no network, no processes, no files.

Guard & safety mods/plugin install

reply-media

2

NateCC0902/NeonCoat

Draws the mermaid fences, math formulas and local images of a reply as pictures in the terminal, and plays its local videos (kitty graphics: Ghostty, kitty)

Spinner, theme & fun mods

secret-drop

2

aislam23/secret-drop

Secure input window for API keys and passwords: Claude asks, you type into a masked field, the mod writes .env / GitHub Secrets itself. The value never enters the chat.

Guard & safety mods/plugin install

sesiones

2

BrunoL0M/claude-sesiones-mod

Panel con todas las sesiones locales de Claude Code, agrupadas por directorio y fecha, con chats antiguos aparte

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

session-handoff-button

2

gclbck-crealore/session-handoff-button-mod

A Session Hand-off button above the prompt, colored by context usage; reads Context clean and cannot be pressed while green. From orange on, one press writes the handoff, saves it to a temp .md, clears the session and continues in the fresh one with a short message while the handoff goes in as hidden context. Past 65% it stops your next prompt once and recommends the button.

Memory & instructions mods/plugin install

session-panel

2

herman925/925-cc-plugins

Session Panel: hides tool calls and shows a calm step checklist above the prompt, with a Hide/Show details button.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

session-progress

2

nerevar48/nerevar-mods

Progress bar above the prompt for the current session's task: follows the todo list (TodoWrite, TaskCreate/TaskUpdate) and the plan the model reports through its progress tool.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

sf-headless-band

2

deejay-hub/sf-headless-band

Shows your Salesforce default org and the Salesforce MCP servers Claude can reach, with each org's type and scratch org expiry, above the prompt

Pane & dashboard mods

sfx-gen

2

nkapila6/sfx-gen

Generate sound effects from text prompts with a local Stable Audio model (sa3.cpp), no API, no Python

Notification & sound mods/plugin install

shell-shim

2

MichaelP17/claude-mods

Fixes the zsh pitfalls Claude's bash-style commands trip over — = words, unmatched globs, word splitting, aliases that hide programs, a missing timeout — before the command runs

Workflow mods

shell-tail

2

NateCC0902/NeonCoat

Lists every shell still running in the background above the prompt: how long it has run, how much it wrote, its last line, and a button that stops it (terminal)

Pane & dashboard mods

shroud

2

revenantworks/claude-skills

Revenantworks shroud mod for Claude Code 2.1.287+: masks secrets (its own shapes plus the gitleaks rule set), stream keys and, if you turn them on, personal data and your own word list before Claude reads them (restoring a value only into the gitignored file it came from), flags a credential keywarden marked for rotation, and marks web, MCP and mail results and messages from routines or other sessions as data. Kept apart from the vigil plugin, so safety never depends on the dashboard. Never blocks your work; keeps no record; contacts no service.

Guard & safety mods/plugin install

sidebar

2

llkhacquan/claude-mods

Shows every live Claude Code session as a card in a side pane: title, status, current tool, git branch, model, context use and a last-turn recap. No tmux or daemon needed; in tmux a card's hotkey jumps to that session's pane

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

skill-pick

2

iuliandita/mods

Names the 1 to 5 installed skills that fit each prompt, as many as the ask needs, with a small model and, when TYPESAFE_API_KEY is set, a Jev score per skill; the log shows how often the main model then loads one. Default mode dry only measures. With a key set, the prompt and skill descriptions go to api.typesafe.ai (Jev) from every directory unless jevPaths limits it.

Workflow mods/plugin install

skills-band

2

codehamster69/skills-band

One-row skills band above the prompt: theme-colored labels, Claude-orange dots on active skills and caveman/ponytail modes

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

slapbox

2

timoncool/slapbox

Spank Claude when it messes up: a cartoon butt above the prompt, eight slappers, nine butts, marks, combos and sounds; your next message tells Claude how it was spanked. English and Russian.

Notification & sound mods/plugin install

slash-coverage

2

Davron2004/slash-coverage

Which files each Claude Code agent has in its context, and how much of each: line ranges, tokens, re-reads, edits, and which files only a subagent it spawned has read.

Context & usage mods/plugin install

smartcompact

2

ambervdberg/smartcompact

A Claude Code mod that compacts the conversation at a good moment, asked for by the session after a nudge or chosen by a small judge model, and then tells Claude to continue.

Workflow mods/plugin install

spec-flow

2

IgnacioMarin402/spec-flow-plugin

Ships a feature only when a test that actually ran proves every requirement in its spec. Free-text requirement -> spec (you sign it off) -> plan -> review -> implement per milestone, gated by a lint/test/spec-trace loop that runs outside the model. For Node projects; your repo declares its test and lint commands in .spec-flow/config.json, which `spec-flow init` writes.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

speckit-xref

2

moinsen-dev/speckit-xref

Keeps a GitHub Spec Kit feature and its code tied together inside Claude Code: a new idea researched and shaped with you (or your PRD reviewed and cut into a roadmap), the spec in the system prompt, every edit booked against a task, a proof ladder per requirement, a local dashboard, and an autopilot gated by your decisions and the tests.

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

spotter

2

Steady-Matter/spotter-pals

Spotter: a Claude Code dashboard by Steady Matter. It watches the work and counts the steps. A progress bar above the prompt, a row per helper agent with a pixel Pal that hatches and grows as the agent works, and a headline for the last reply. Built on Flightdeck by Stephen Casella (MIT); the bar's look is adapted from savvy-progress by johnnyvizz. The Pals are unofficial Palworld fan art, not affiliated with Pocketpair.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

spx-chart

2

zviryatko/claude-spx

Interactive SPX chart/icicle chart pane for Claude Code: heat-coloured, hover details, click to copy, double-click to zoom. Requires the php-spx-mcp server (github.com/NoiseByNorthwest/php-spx-mcp).

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

statusline

2

iuliandita/mods

A two-row status line in the band above the prompt, in the terminal and in Claude Desktop: model and effort, worktree, branch and counts, lines changed, kube context, PR and issue counts, session name and output style; then context, 5h and 7d rate-limit bars with pace, cache, cost and time. No statusLine script. In a git repo with a GitHub or GitLab remote it runs gh or glab for the PR and issue counts (forge option, on by default).

Git & GitHub mods/plugin install

streams

2

macleodlabs-ai/claudeflow

Untangles the interleaved work in a Claude Code session (prompts, mid-turn asides, subagents, loops) into colour-coded streams with a live navigator pane, a status bar of pills and per-stream focus.

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

subagent-tree

2

bobtat/claude-plugins

A live /agents-tree pane showing the session's subagents as a tree — status, how long each has run, its tool calls and steps, the tool it is on now and the output tokens it used

Pane & dashboard mods/plugin install

subagent-tuner

2

Kruhlikau/subagent-tuner

Picks the model and reasoning effort of every subagent: a recommendation by task kind, a band above the prompt, and a saved default that wins. Needs Claude Code 2.1.295 or later.

About Claude Code mods

What is a Claude Code mod?

Since version 2.1.287, a mod is a Claude Code plugin with JavaScript or TypeScript handlers that run inside Claude Code. Unlike a settings hook or a status line script, a mod can draw panes beside the transcript and bands above the prompt, add buttons and toasts, restyle the spinner and tool rows, and hold, rewrite or answer a tool call. Mods work in the CLI, the Code tab of the desktop app and the VS Code extension.

How do I install a Claude Code mod?

A mod installs like any plugin. Inside Claude Code, add its marketplace with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo, then run /plugin install name@marketplace. To try one without installing it, clone the repo and start Claude Code with --plugin-dir pointing at the mod folder. Every mod page here has the exact commands.

What else is in this directory?

Every other way people customise Claude Code: status line scripts, settings hooks, custom slash commands, output styles, themes, plugin marketplaces and workflow kits, plus the apps people run it with, such as GUIs and mobile clients, usage and cost trackers, session browsers, model routers, multi-agent and worktree runners and editor integrations. Skills and MCP servers have their own directories.

What does a mod's reach mean?

Reach is the widest thing a mod's code asks Claude Code to do, from a static scan of its source: L0 only draws and remembers, L1 reads files or settings, L2 writes files, runs processes or drives Claude, and L3 reaches the network. It is a footprint, not a verdict: a pull request tracker has to run git. A mod runs with your permissions, so read its code before you install it.

How is popularity measured?

By the GitHub stars of each repo, with forks, curated awesome lists and listing in Anthropic's plugin directory as smaller signals. When one repo holds many mods they share its stars, so only its first few rank high. The data refreshes every day.

Are Claude Code mods safe?

Mods, hooks, status lines and most tools run on your machine with your permissions, so treat them like any code from the internet: check a mod's reach, read the code before installing, prefer well-starred and recently updated repos, and check the license. Run claude plugin validate on a clone to list what a mod hooks and calls without running it, and start Claude Code with --safe-mode to turn every customization off for a session.
