How Claude Code mods work
- A mod is a plugin with a JavaScript or TypeScript module that runs inside Claude Code (version 2.1.287 or later). It can draw panes beside the transcript, a band above the prompt, buttons and toasts, restyle the spinner and tool rows, and watch or rewrite tool calls and prompts.
- It installs like any plugin: add its marketplace with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo, then /plugin install name@marketplace.
- Check what a mod can reach before installing: it runs with your permissions. Reach goes from drawing only, to reading files, to writing files or running processes, to the network. Run claude plugin validate on a clone to list its hooks and calls without running it.
- Turn one off from the Installed tab in /plugin, or start Claude Code with --safe-mode to skip every customization for a session.

valet-mode
DJPalefaceSD/rostech-mods
A look-only mode for someone else at your PC: Claude can read and answer, but cannot change anything until you unlock it.
idea-shell
2MichaelP17/claude-mods
Captures ideas per folder with /idea while Claude keeps working, and hands them to Claude later
time-machine
JJenglert1/claude-mods
Snapshots your project right before Claude changes files, so you can roll back to any earlier point with /time-machine.
mod-monitor
2joeldg/claude-mods
Watches how your other mods really behave: hook failures and slow hooks (read off the chain's own trace), what each one did (toasts, status lines, commands, processes, model calls, writes), with /mods for a live pane and /mods report for the last day, week or month. Changes nothing they do; no model calls.
switch
devohmycode/claude-mods
A pane of the models and the effort levels, each switched with one click. /switch opens it; /switch opus or /switch high switches without it. A click runs the engine's own /model or /effort, so the status line follows; the pane shows the model and the effort the last request was actually sent with.
recent-prompts
2robinalexandre/claude-code-kit
Shows your last two messages above the prompt and a searchable history pane; click one to scroll the transcript to it.
