How Claude Code mods work
- A mod is a plugin with a JavaScript or TypeScript module that runs inside Claude Code (version 2.1.287 or later). It can draw panes beside the transcript, a band above the prompt, buttons and toasts, restyle the spinner and tool rows, and watch or rewrite tool calls and prompts.
- It installs like any plugin: add its marketplace with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo, then /plugin install name@marketplace.
- Check what a mod can reach before installing: it runs with your permissions. Reach goes from drawing only, to reading files, to writing files or running processes, to the network. Run claude plugin validate on a clone to list its hooks and calls without running it.
- Turn one off from the Installed tab in /plugin, or start Claude Code with --safe-mode to skip every customization for a session.

spend-guard
Rategor/claude-code-spend-guard
Spend Guard: live session cost band, a warning toast, and a hard stop that holds your next prompt once the session hits a dollar cap.
ssh-usage-band
RedRoosterKey/claude-code-ssh-usage-band
Shows the SSH host, project directory, RAM in use and your 5-hour and 7-day usage limits in a row above the prompt
spare10
chrisns/spare10-mod
Keeps the last part of your 5-hour and weekly quota for you. At the reserve, spare10 holds all work and asks you whether to continue. After a Resume, it asks again at the floor, by default at 5% left. Shortly before the reset, it lets work use the reserve.
status-bar
neemzsoul/claude-mod
Model, folder, context-used bar and session cost under the prompt — works in the Claude app, not just the terminal
snip
DouglasVulcano/snip
Prune your Claude Code context instead of summarizing it: stale and oversized tool results go, your conversation, decisions and plans stay verbatim.
status-bar
pradyb/claude-mods
A status bar above the prompt with folder, git branch and state, 5-hour and 7-day usage bars, context with tokens, prompt-cache countdown, cost, session time, turns and clock. Desktop app only; the CLI keeps its own status line.
