Get project overview in ~3 minutes by scanning ✓ = benchmarked on 5 open-source projects. Others are estimates based on usage.

How It Works

SourceAtlas uses information theory to prioritize high-entropy files (configs, READMEs, models) over implementation details. By scanning All E2E verified on 2025-12-21. Languages tested: Swift, Ruby, Python, TypeScript, Kotlin. Click ✓ for detailed reports.

Quick Start (2 minutes)

Requirements

- Claude Code 1.0.33+ (Get it here)
- Git 2.0+
- macOS 12+ or Linux

Installation

Option A: Plugin Marketplace (Recommended)

Option B: Quick Local Testing
⚠️ Known Issue: If you install with --scope project in one repo, you may get "already installed" errors in other repos. This is a Claude Code bug. Workaround: Use default user scope (no --scope flag) or --scope user.

Option C: Via OpenSkills (For Cursor, Gemini CLI, Aider)

SourceAtlas also works with non-Claude Code AI agents via OpenSkills.

Prerequisites: Node.js 18+

Quick Install:

Using with Cursor:

After installation, open Cursor's AI Chat (Cmd+L) and ask naturally:

Tip: If Cursor doesn't auto-detect skills, explicitly ask: *"Use openskills read overview to analyze this project"*

Verify Installation:

Troubleshooting:
- "SKILL.md not found" → Use openskills install lis186/SourceAtlas (repo root path)
- Skills not appearing → Run openskills sync -y to regenerate AGENTS.md

See plugin/README.md for detailed instructions.

First Use

With Agent Skills, Claude automatically suggests the right analysis based on your questions — no commands to memorize!

How custom slash commands work

  • A slash command is a Markdown file. Put it in ~/.claude/commands (for you) or .claude/commands (for a project), and it becomes /file-name inside Claude Code. Claude Code now treats commands and skills the same way, so .claude/skills/name/SKILL.md also works.
  • Arguments you type after the command are passed in as $ARGUMENTS.
  • If the repo is a plugin marketplace, installing it from /plugin adds the commands for you.
