From the README

Sidekick Agent Hub

AI coding assistant with real-time agent monitoring — VS Code extension and terminal dashboard.

AI coding agents are powerful but opaque — tokens burn silently, context fills up without warning, and everything is lost when a session ends. Sidekick gives you visibility into what your agent is doing, AI features that eliminate mechanical coding work, and session intelligence that preserves context across sessions. Works with Claude Max, Claude API, OpenCode, or Codex CLI.

What's New

- 0.30.1: update notifications — the CLI's one-shot commands (sidekick quota, sidekick stats and the rest) end with an "Update available" line on stderr when a newer sidekick-agent-hub is on npm. It appears at most twice a day per version, never with --json, in pipes, or in CI, and SIDEKICK_NO_UPDATE_NOTIFIER=1 turns it off. The VS Code extension announces a newer version of itself (from the Marketplace in VS Code, Open VSX elsewhere) with Update, Release Notes, and Skip This Version buttons; Sidekick: Check for Updates checks on demand, and sidekick.updateCheck.enabled turns the automatic check off.
- 0.30.0: Codex subagents, settled background agents, compressed Codex sessions
  - Codex subagents: children started with Codex's spawn_agent appear in the VS Code Subagents view (labelled by nickname or task name, nested under the agent that spawned them, click to open the child rollout), the CLI Agents tab and mind map, and both task boards. Each is linked to its spawn call and followed from launch to completion, including follow-up tasks, interrupts and failed spawns.
  - Codex subagent statistics: a forked child's tool calls and tokens count only its own work, not the parent history it embeds, and Codex session following no longer switches to a subagent's rollout.
