Use --json in agent contexts. stdout = data, stderr = diagnostics, exit 0 = success.

The robot commands emit JSON without a --json flag:

caam robot docs is generated from the running binary (commands, flags,
examples, robot error codes, and JSON Schemas for robot outputs and
status/ls/activate --json), with version and schema_version.

validate and robot validate share the same passive assessment. A Claude
snapshot containing only account labels or ordinary settings is invalid;
missing, incomplete, null, or malformed credentials cannot become valid merely
because their expiry is unknown. Activation checks the snapshot before changing
live credentials or settings. Genuine opaque credentials can have unknown expiry,
and an expired access token remains eligible when its credential is renewable
and has not been rejected by the provider.

Robot next and precheck exclude unusable credentials and system snapshots.
--include-cooldown only relaxes the cooldown filter. An unnamed robot backup
creates an _backup_* snapshot without replacing a matching named account as
the active profile. A failed validation or a precheck with no usable account
returns success: false and a nonzero exit status.

Passive validation does not prove provider acceptance. --active explicitly
fails for saved vault profiles. Robot refresh reports REFRESH_UNSUPPORTED
when renewal belongs to the native CLI or requires a new login, and
REFRESH_SKIPPED when a stale snapshot cannot safely be refreshed.…
