claudeline A minimalistic and opinionated Claude Code status line. It displays the subscription plan (or API/provider), current Anthropic model, context window usage, and 5-hour/7-day quota usage as ANSI-colored progress bars. Written in Go with no external dependencies (stdlib only). The 5-hour and 7-day quota bars require a Claude Code subscription (Pro, Max, or Team). They are not available for Enterprise or API key users. The bars may also disappear silently if the usage API is temporarily unavailable or rate limited — use -debug to diagnose. Indicator legend Installation Via Claude Code plugin 1. Inside Claude Code, add the plugin marketplace and install: 2. Run /claudeline:setup inside Claude Code — this downloads the Go binary and configures your statusline 3. Restart Claude Code Manual 1. Add the statusline to ~/.claude/settings.json: If installing via go install, set the command to ~/go/bin/claudeline 3. Restart Claude Code Flags Example with working directory and git branch enabled: Architecture Single-binary design with main.go orchestrating internal/ packages. Data flow: stdin JSON → parse input + read credentials → fetch usage (cached) + fetch status (cached) + check update (cached) → render ANSI output → stdout Key components: - Credential resolution: Detects API provider from environment variables following Claude Code's authentication precedence: CLAUDE_CODE_USE_MANTLE, CLAUDE_CODE_USE_BEDROCK, CLAUDE_CODE_USE_VERTEX, CLAUDE_CODE_USE_FOUNDRY, ANTHROPIC_API_KEY/ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN, CLAUDE_CODE_OAUTH_TOKEN — displaying "Mantle", "Bedrock", "Vertex", "Foundry", "API", or "OAuth" instead of the plan…
How status lines work
- A status line is a command Claude Code runs to draw the bar under the prompt. It gets the session as JSON on stdin (model, folder, cost, context) and prints one or more lines.
- Point the statusLine setting in ~/.claude/settings.json at it: { "statusLine": { "type": "command", "command": "<the command from the README>" } }.
- Or run /statusline inside Claude Code and describe what you want.
