How Claude Code mods work
- A mod is a plugin with a JavaScript or TypeScript module that runs inside Claude Code (version 2.1.287 or later). It can draw panes beside the transcript, a band above the prompt, buttons and toasts, restyle the spinner and tool rows, and watch or rewrite tool calls and prompts.
- It installs like any plugin: add its marketplace with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo, then /plugin install name@marketplace.
- Check what a mod can reach before installing: it runs with your permissions. Reach goes from drawing only, to reading files, to writing files or running processes, to the network. Run claude plugin validate on a clone to list its hooks and calls without running it.
- Turn one off from the Installed tab in /plugin, or start Claude Code with --safe-mode to skip every customization for a session.

More context & usage mods
cachekeeper
the-cybersapien/claude-cache

cash-tax
kevinfactor/claude-kit
Warns before an idle session's prompt cache expires and the next message re-reads the whole conversation at full price, with the token count and cost. /keepwarm pings the cache to keep it alive.
cache-weather
vmurin/cache-weather
Prompt-cache countdown, cache hit rate, context weather and weekly limit in the permission-mode line under the prompt (not the status line).
castle-hud
eddywong888/claude-castle-mod
A Castlevania-style HUD above the prompt in the Claude Code desktop app. It shows how full the context is (a blood meter), your 5-hour and weekly limits (moons), how long the prompt cache stays warm (a stopwatch), what this session and the 5-hour window cost, how long the session has run, the last turn, lines changed and running subagents (bats). A pixel castle grows bolder as the context fills and catches fire as the prompt cache runs down. You earn XP, levels, daily streaks and 14 achievements as you work; type /castle to see them. Everything stays on your machine.
cache-watch
paweechinagarn/claude-code-mods
Shows prompt-cache hit rate and time to expiry, and offers the cheapest way to carry on before the cache lapses.
cc-context-bar
rendi-febrian/rendifebrian-mods
